Oklahoma senior quarterback Landry Jones was named to the Manning Award preseason watch list by the Allstate Sugar Bowl, it was announced on Friday.

It is the fourth preseason watch list Jones has appeared on so far. The Artesia, N.M., native has also been placed on the Maxwell, Davey O'Brien and Walter Camp award lists. It is the third-straight season Jones has been a preseason nominee for the Manning Award.

Jones is the active NCAA leader with 12,379 career passing yards and 93 career touchdowns. He enters the season tied with current OU running backs coach Cale Gundy (1990-93) for most career starts by a quarterback at OU with 37 and is three wins away from tying Steve Davis (1973-75) for the Sooners' career victories record of 32.

In 2011, Jones was named a Manning Award Star of the Week on three occasions.

Jones was a three-time Manning Award Star of the Week in 2011, including the week he threw for a school record 505 yards in a road win over Kansas State.

The Manning Award list is comprised of 25 quarterbacks and was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in recognition of the accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning in college football. It is the only quarterback award that takes the candidates' bowl performances into account and is presented after the bowl schedule is completed.
