Posted: Updated:
SPENCER, Oklahoma -

A woman said former Spencer Police Officer Charles Wyatt slammed her 13-year-old son into a building and gave the boy a concussion.

The boy was participating in a volunteer youth program for kids who've been in trouble at school. The woman said she sent her boy to a "reality check" program on July 11. The group was scheduled to visit a state prison.

The woman said when her son returned, she noticed he had bruises on his face and neck. When she asked him what happened, the boy said Wyatt had grabbed him and pushed him into a building. The woman said she took her son to Midwest City Hospital, where he was diagnosed with a concussion. She also reported the alleged assault to police.

Wyatt did not deny a physical altercation happened. He said the boy came at him in an aggressive manner, and he defended himself.

The Spencer Police Department is now investigating.
