More than 13 years after it was first designed, a million dollar war memorial will finally be completed.

Workers are the Crucible Foundry in Norman are putting the finishing touches on the bronze statue.

The artwork features an Eagle with a 40 foot wingspan behind eight service men and woman representing the country's conflicts dating back to WWII.

All five branches of the military are represented in the sculpture titled, "Shoulder to Shoulder even the fallen stand tall."

"They are all together. They are all responding to each other. They are locked into that united effort," says Artist Gareth Andrews who moved his family to Norman so he could work on the project.

Andrews was hired by the Veterans of Iron Range out of Minnesota to complete the sculpture.

The sculpture is on display at The Crucible Foundry for the next week. It will then be shipped to Minnesota where it will be on the display at a park.
