ENID, Oklahoma -

A single mother hopes to afford surgery for her autistic son's therapy dog after it was hit by a car.

Terri Fletchall said Zeke the dog helps her son Carson deal with the everyday challenges his autism causes, such as anxiety. The surgery to fix the dog's legs comes with a steep $3,000 price tag. The single mother said she feels guilty seeing how upset her son is and how much pain their pup is in.

"It's been hard as a mom," she Fletchall. "Just living with the look on his face and knowing that I could have stopped it if I just put him back in the house. It's been hard."

The family brought Zeke to the "The Veterinary Surgery Center" in Oklahoma City on Monday. So far, the family has raised $1,200.

If you would like to help, you can donate to the Terri Fletchall Pet Fund through the Bank of Kremlin, account number 510646.
