Emergency crews have recovered the body of a man who drowned Sunday night in Lake Chickasha.

According to officials, crews responded to the call of a possible drowning at around 6 p.m. Sunday at Lake Chickasha, located just north of Verden and west of Chickasha.

Chickasha officials confirmed that the body of a 40-year-old man has been recovered on the east side of the lake.

The identity of the man has not been released.

The victim's uncle told News 9 the victim had been playing Frisbee with his friends by the lake. At some points, his friends noticed he was missing, so they went looking for him, that's when a friend stumbled upon the man's body in the shallow water.

Family members say they are shocked about the incident, because the victim was a good swimmer.
