The New Orleans Zephyrs used two big innings to boost themselves past a balanced effort by Oklahoma City on Friday night.

The Zephyrs beat the RedHawks 10-8 in Oklahoma City largely behind the strength of a five-run third inning and a three-run eighth inning.

The RedHawks built a 3-1 lead heading into the third before New Orleans exploded for five in the inning.

OKC came back in sixth when J.B. Shuck doubled to score Matt Dominguez to cut the lead to 6-5. Fernando Martinez then singled to score Shuck to tie the game up.

New Orleans, which scored methodically off of RBI singles all game, didn't waste any time reclaiming a sizeable lead in the eighth inning when Mike Cervenak cranked a three-run homer over the left field wall to take a 9-6 lead.

OKC tried to put together another run in the bottom of the eighth with two runs but couldn't get enough traction to complete the comeback.

The RedHawks' right hander Mickey Storey was charged with the loss after giving up the three-run homer on the one hit he allowed in 0.2 innings.

The RedHawks and the Zephyrs will play for an eighth-straight time when they face off at 7:06 p.m. on Saturday at the Bricktown Ballpark.
