Edmond police are searching for a man accused of cloning a debit card, and using the counterfeit version to buy more than $1,800 worth of gift cards.

The victim lives in Norman and noticed unexplained charges on his card, even though he still had possession of it. He filed a police report.

Edmond police say it appears the suspect somehow stole the victim's information and used it to create another card. He used the fake debit card six times in May at the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market store at 1301 E. 2nd Street, and at the Wal-Mart at Interstate 35 and E. 15th Street.

The suspect bought $200 gift cards each time he visited the stores, until the debit card was eventually declined.

Police have released surveillance images of the suspect taken by cameras at one of the Wal-Mart stores. Police are asking the public to take a good look at the photos. If anyone has information about the case, they are asked to call Edmond Crime Stoppers at (405) 359-4466.
