Firefighters discovered the body of a woman Monday night in a burned-out home in Macomb.

Fire crews from Macomb and Asher arrived at the house in the 39000 block of Mars Hill Road around 7:30 p.m. When they doused the flames, they found the woman's body near the front door. She was in her 80s, but her name has not been released.

The State Medical Examiner's Office is performing an autopsy to determine exactly how she died. Fire marshals are also investigating to find out what started the fatal fire.
