Tiny Town Of Fireworks City Get Big Business For July 4

The Fourth of July means big business for the town of Fireworks City. 

Fireworks City is located just east of Mustang, and it is an actual town, even though it stretches across just five acres.  Yet Fireworks City also houses a huge collection of fireworks for sale. 

The town used to be known as Canadian City until the name change in 1985. Linda Gray has been mayor of Fireworks City since 1986. 

"It's an interesting story, and we don't get to tell it very often," Gray said.

If you do want to shoot off your own fireworks this week there are some places you're not allowed to. Mustang is one of the few cities allowing people to shoot their own fireworks. In Guthrie you have to buy a permit. You cannot shoot off fireworks in the Oklahoma City limits.
