The Oklahoma City RedHawks built an early lead Monday and cruised past Memphis in a 7-1 win, their second consecutive win of the series.

Mike Hessman started off the scoring for the RedHawks, knocking a leadoff home run in the second inning to take a 1-0 advantage.

With two on and one out in the bottom of the fourth, Marwin Gonzalez knocked a line drive single to center field, bringing Fernando Martinez home from second. Back-to-back walks loaded the bases and then scored the next run, taking a 3-0 lead.

Brandon Barnes followed with a two-run single to give Oklahoma City a 5-0 advantage.

Memphis responded with a run of its own in the top of the fifth on a Lou Montanez RBI single, but that was the only run they could manage.

However, Oklahoma City responded in the bottom half of the frame, as Marwin Gonzalez knocked a line-drive single to left field, bringing Hessman home and stretching the lead back to five runs. The RedHawks added one more insurance run in the bottom of the eighth as Brad Snyder scored on a passed ball, extending the lead to 7-1.

Brett Oberholtzer (2-1) came away with a win for the outing, giving up just one earned run on six hits in his 6.1 innings of service for the RedHawks. Shelby Miller (4-7) received a loss, giving up five earned runs on four hits in four innings.

Oklahoma City will attempt to make it three in a row over the Redbirds at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday.
