One Person Treated For Burns After Southeast OKC Fire

Firefighters extinguished a fire at the Hands Up Ministries in southeast Oklahoma City Monday afternoon. Officials say one person was treated for second degree burns.

Firefighters extinguished a fire at the Hands Up Ministries in southeast Oklahoma City Monday afternoon. Officials say one person was treated for second degree burns.

According to fire officials, crews responded to the fire just before 5 p.m. at the ministry, located in the 2100 block of S.E. 59th Street in Oklahoma City.

More than 40 sex offenders who were living at Hand Up Ministries are now living in tents here on the property, due to a new law that went into effect over the weekend.

One of the residents was forced to move out of a trailer home. He was in his camper trying to cook when he started the fire, according to fire officials.

Firefighters were able to put out the fire quickly. The resident suffered second degree burns to the legs.
