University of Oklahoma junior Tia Brooks, fresh off a national championship in the shot put, added the U.S. Olympic team to her list of achievements this season.
Brooks' shot put of 60 feet, 2 inches was good for third place in the shot put event, and earned her a spot on the U.S. Olympic team.
Brooks won both the Big 12 and NCAA championships in both indoor and outdoor seasons for shot put this year. She's just the second OU woman to make an Olympic track and field team.
Laverne Jones-Ferrette was a two-time Olympic sprinter for the U.S. Virgin Islands, and graduated from OU in 2003.
