My 2 Cents: Supreme Court To Rule On New Healthcare Law

A huge decision comes Thursday from the Supreme Court, and it's important to not lose sight of what the Justices are deciding.

It's not whether Americans deserve to have good healthcare, of course we do, and we all want to be healthy. Everyone agrees on those things, but does the government have the authority to order me to buy health insurance, even if I don't want it, or pay a fine if I don't?

The car insurance argument doesn't work here folks. I don't have to have car insurance. I only have to have it if I want to drive a car.

With this Healthcare law you don't have that choice. The government has taken it away.

Even if you're 21 years old, healthy as a horse, never go to the doctor, like many of us did in our younger years, you WILL buy health insurance anyway to pay for others who will go to the doctor and can't afford it.

Despite the White House's claims before the Court that it's not, that sounds an awful lot like a new tax doesn't it?

That's what bothers me most about this healthcare law. There are certainly positives to it, but the cornerstone of it, the key to making it work, the individual mandate, takes away my freedom as an American citizen to decide for myself.

We'll see what the court has to say Thursday.
