Food Network Renews Owasso Resident Trisha Yearwood's Cooking Show

TULSA, Oklahoma -

Country music superstar and Owasso resident Trisha Yearwood will be cooking up a storm on the Food Network for at least another season, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

"Trisha's Southern Kitchen," which first aired in April with six episodes, will expand in its next run to 13 installments and begin production this summer for a fall premiere, the publication reported Wednesday.

"Our viewers loved seeing a different side of Trisha," Food Network GM and Senior Vice President Bob Tuschman told the Reporter. "Her impressive cooking skills and family recipes, coupled with her natural Southern charm, really resonated with our audience."

In the first season, episodes showcased the native Georgia girl, charming viewers with her wit and carefree personality as she cooked with friends and family.

Yearwood, who is married to Oklahoma native Garth Brooks, has released two cookbooks, "Georgia Cooking in an Oklahoma Kitchen" and "Home Cooking With Trisha Yearwood." Both topped the New York Times best-seller list.

Her venture into television was a gratifying one, she said.

"It was such a great experience, and the positive response from viewers was overwhelming and truly gratifying," Yearwood told the Reporter. "I've always believed that food brings people together. I can't wait to share more family memories and recipes with Food Network fans."

The first season aired Saturdays at 9:30 a.m., but there has been no announcement of the time slot for the sophomore installment.
