The Oklahoma City RedHawks used a five-run fifth inning to propel them to an 8-5 win over the Round Rock Express, Friday night.

The RedHawks pounded out 11 hits, including three home runs, in securing at least a split of the series with the Express.

Round Rock struck early with two runs in the bottom of the second, on a two-run home run by Julio Borbon. OKC countered with a run in the fourth on an RBI single from Angel Sanchez.

Eight batters came to the plate in the pivotal fifth inning for the RedHawks. Jimmy Paredes had an RBI single, and Scott Moore had a sacrifice fly before Mike Hessman hit a two-run homer. Brad Snyder followed Hessman's blast with a solo shot of his own before Sanchez flied out to end the inning.

Landon Powell had a solo homer in the eighth, and Brandon Barnes scored on a fielder's choice in the ninth for the final total for the RedHawks.

Round Rock staged a three-run rally in the bottom of the ninth on four hits, but fell short of extending the game.

Five RedHawks players had two hits, and six different players had RBIs.

Borbon lead the Express offensively, going 3-5 with that two-run homer in the second inning.

Armando Galarraga got his first win of the year for OKC, while Zach Johnson dropped to 2-8 this season for Round Rock with the loss.

The win helped the RedHawks maintain their two-game lead over the Albuquerque Isotopes in the Pacific Coast League American Southern division. The two teams won't play each other again until the end of August.

The RedHawks will go for the series win Sunday, when they face the Express at 7:05 p.m. at Dell Diamond.
