The chairman of the Oklahoma Commission for Human Services is resigning his leadership position but plans to remain on the panel.

Chairman Brad Yarbrough announced his plans to step down after Tuesday's regular meeting of the commission, citing the fact that the duties "required an excessive investment of time."

Yarbrough was appointed by Gov. Mary Fallin last year and has helped oversee the agency that provides services for vulnerable children, the elderly and disabled Oklahomans.

Last month, Fallin accepted the resignations of Commissioners Steven Dow of Tulsa and Anne Roberts of Oklahoma City.

Lawmakers are seeking a statewide vote in November on whether to abolish the Human Services Commission and replace it with four separate governor-appointed panels.
