The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a 19-year-old woman was reaching for her cell phone when she lost control of her car and crashed into another driver.

The crash happened Thursday, May 30, on eastbound Interstate 40 near Bethel Road in Caddo County. Troopers say 19-year-old Jamie Zoschak dropped her cell phone. When she reached for it, she swerved into another car also traveling eastbound.

Both vehicles swerved off the road. Zoschak's car stopped just off the road, but the vehicle driven by 78-year-old Barbara Hatchell of Weatherford rolled twice and crashed.

Hatchell was taken to OU Medical Center where she died on June 7 from injuries she sustained in the crash. Zoschak was not seriously injured.

Troopers blamed the crash on inattention, saying Zoschak was distracted.
