Prosecutors filed four new felony charges against a convicted burglar who has a rap sheet dating back to 2007.

Jarren Virgil John has been in and out of jail on more than a dozen charges in the past five years.

The court system has been very busy with John. So much so, that charges are being filed more than five months after the latest burglary in November of 2011. The four new charges hit the Oklahoma County Court Clerk's Office just three days after John was in court on four separate charges.

The latest case has Edmond Police accusing John of breaking into a home in northeast Edmond, stealing car keys and taking off with the owners' BMW. Police say this happened as the owner and his wife slept inside.

The victims of the latest crime would not go on camera, but their story is laid out in court papers.

Shortly after John got into the stolen car, his luck ran out. According to court documents, the homeowner woke up and saw John backing out of the driveway with his car. That's when police say the owner got into another car and chased John down.

John was caught by the subdivision's outer gate, which gave the homeowner enough time to catch up, and gave police a solid head start.

When police arrived, they found evidence inside the car linking John to yet another burglary. From 2007 to 2009, John was convicted of concealing stolen property, second-degree burglary and attempted burglary.

John is currently in jail awaiting additional court hearings.
