Lawton Man Drowns At Tom Steed Lake

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has recovered the body of a 22-year-old man who drowned Sunday afternoon in Kiowa County.

Jose Angel Garcia of Lawton was swimming at Tom Steed Lake. Witnesses say he was wading in the swim beach area around 3:15 p.m. then started swimming north and disappeared. Witnesses called for help when he did not resurface.

Garcia's body was found about five hours after he went under.
