Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers say alcohol was a factor in a one-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a man from Hugo, Oklahoma, early Sunday morning.

It happened at 3 a.m. Sunday, on a county road about four miles south of Hugo in Choctaw County.

Troopers say a 1994 Mustang driven by 60-year-old Edie Lee Walker was southbound on the county road when it ran off the roadway to the right. Walker overcorrected, and the car ran off the roadway again to the left, striking an embankment.

The vehicle then rolled one and half time.

Walker was pronounced dead at the scene from head and internal injuries. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. He was transported to Mt. Olive Funeral Home in Hugo.

Troopers say they did smell an odor of alcohol on Walker. The cause of the collision is listed as "DUI" in the OHP collision report.
