Police Chase Leads To Arrest Of Suspected Bank Robber In Enid

Police say a 49-year-old woman wearing sunglasses, a hood, latex gloves, rubber boots and a heavy coat held up a bank Friday in Enid.

The woman walked into the First State Bank of Pond Creek just before 12:30 p.m. She pointed a handgun at employees and demanded money. She took about $5,000 in cash then ran from the bank and drove away in a silver Honda. During the robbery, employees activated the silent hold-up alarm.

Enid police officers spotted a suspicious car while out patrolling. They noticed the driver fit the bank robbery suspect's description. They tried to stop the Honda, but the driver refused to pull over and sped away. Officers pursued the car until the driver pulled into the garage of a home in the 200 block of S. Coolidge.

An officer broke the window of the car and forced the driver to come out. Police arrested 49-year-old Barbara Orf for attempting to elude officers. During the arrest, officers saw a gun in the passenger seat of the car.

After obtaining a search warrant, officers found other evidence from the bank robbery, including the stolen cash. Orf was booked into the Garfield County Detention Facility on complaints of first-degree robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, attempting to elude a police officer, and resisting arrest. She's being held without bond.
