Church staff members were shocked Friday morning when they arrived at work to find three cars damaged by vandals. The cars were all parked at the church overnight.
"It's always shocking when something like that happens," said Kevin Daniels, lead pastor at Harrah Church. "I mean anytime somebody does something that makes no sense."
The criminals busted the headlights, smashed out all the windows of the cars and ripped off the side mirrors.
Pastor Daniels surveyed the damage Friday morning with News 9.
"This one belongs to one of the team members in Uganda and mainly they took out every glass that is in the trucks," Daniels said.
Ten church members were in Uganda working to help out a community that the church sponsors. The group is caring for orphans and digging a water well to improve life in a very poor village.
"The AIDS virus has ravaged that country along with civil war and just poor conditions such as poor drinking water."
Pastor Daniels said the incident at the church should be the last thing on the minds of his volunteers thousands of miles away.
"It'll be a minor setback for them but they're not going to be discouraged," explained Daniels. "They're going to keep going and not let anything like that distract them from what they are doing."
Pastor Daniels wanted to have the damage all fixed before the church group returns from Uganda on Thursday. He got a phone call from his team overseas while checking out the damage. He told them not to worry about it and thinks he can get everything repaired soon.
