Suspect To Stand Trial For Death Of Accomplice During Blanchard Break-In

A judge in Grady County has determined there's enough evidence to put Dustin Stewart on trial for first-degree murder in the death of his alleged accomplice during a break-in.

A Blanchard detective testified for three hours during a preliminary hearing Wednesday morning. The judge cut off his testimony and ended the hearing, saying there was already enough probable cause to send Stewart to trial.

Investigators say Stewart and Justin Martin tried to break into Sarah McKinley's Blanchard home on New Year's Eve. McKinley, an 18-year-old mother and widow, shot and killed Martin.

Under Oklahoma law, a suspect can be charged with murder if an accomplice dies while committing a felony.

Stewart will be formally arraigned on June 28 at 9 a.m.
