A new tool to check sobriety before the police do, it's a drunk driving App called "BreathalEyes".

The BreathalEyes app doesn't require a breath test, but tracks eye movement to determine just how intoxicated someone is. The developer told News 9 he came up with the concept after being pulled over for driving under the influence.

The developer's disclaimer: This is for entertainment. But he does say BrethalEyes is a conversation starter which may prevent drunk driving.

Apparently the eyes are more than a window to the soul, as the app can measure blood alcohol content within .02 percent accuracy. That's something Tapwerks general manager Greg Powell calls dangerous.

"All it does is encourage people to make a game out of it and see who can get the most intoxicated. While some people may say it should promote responsible drinking, in my opinion it does the opposite," said Powell.

The app assumes that the person using it has been drinking, so it will never give a zero reading. Some 20,000 people have downloaded the app.

"If a young person decides they want to get this app, and they have been drinking, and they test their eyes, and it tells them don't drive, we are on board. However, our take is don't drive at all if you've been drinking at all," Betsy Randolph of OHP said.

BreathalEyes creators say there will be a new update in a couple weeks which will increase the app's accuracy. That upgrade will up the price from $.99 to $1.99. Right now it's only available on the iPhone.
