Boy, 11, Found Safe In Spencer After All-Night Search

Police found a missing Spencer boy sleeping in a church playground just after 4 a.m. Thursday.

Alvarez Stephenson's mother called police around 9 p.m. when her son didn't come home from church Wednesday night. Police used dogs and Air One, the police helicopter, to search for the boy. They found him several hours later sleeping in the church's playground near N.E. 25th Street and Spencer Road.

Paramedics examined Alvarez as a precaution, but he was okay. The boy's mother said he had no idea people were searching for him.
