Residents in southwest Oklahoma City called police on May 10 after seeing a nude man run through an apartment complex and punch a resident.

When police arrived at the complex near S.W. 62nd Street and S. Douglas, they saw Jack Benson, 29, bleeding from a cut on his forehead. Another man was nearby holding a flashlight. Police ordered the man to drop the flashlight and placed him in handcuffs.

While police were handcuffing the other man, officers said Benson ran away and jumped over a fence. Police quickly caught up to him. They summoned an ambulance and Benson was taken to a hospital.

Police then began questioning the man they originally found holding the flashlight. He told them he and several residents saw Benson running around naked. The man yelled at Benson to go inside and put some clothes on.

The man told police Benson put on a pair of pants, came back outside and punched him in the face. The man said he struck Benson in the head with a flashlight in self defense. Several witnesses corroborated his story.

Police went to the hospital to speak with Benson. They said he smelled strongly of alcohol and was so combative he had to be restrained. Once he was cleared by the doctors, police arrested him and booked him into the Oklahoma County jail on complaints of assault and battery, and public indecency.
