OKC Police: Woman Holding Knife Accused Of Chasing Children

Police arrested a 46-year-old woman accused of brandishing a knife while chasing a group of children around a southeast Oklahoma City neighborhood.

The children told police they were playing in the 5200 block of Gaines on May 8 when Connie Ann Dismuke came out of her house carrying a knife. Witnesses said she began yelling at the kids then approached them. Witnesses said the children ran away from her and Dismuke began chasing them while cursing and swinging the knife. No one was hurt.

Someone called 911 and when officers arrived, they found Dismuke walking down the street. She was with her husband and, according to the police report, he was now carrying the knife. He told police he was taking his wife back home.

Police confiscated the knife and arrested Dismuke. They said she was slurring her speech, had blood shoot eyes and smelled strongly of alcohol. An officer said while she was being transported to jail, Dismuke called herself "the nanny of the neighborhood" and claimed she was just taking care of the kids.

Dismuke was booked into the Oklahoma County jail on a complaint of assault with a deadly weapon.
