A thief made off with an Oklahoma woman's wedding ring, given to her by her late husband, and now her family is pleading for its safe return.

Menecca McHone is now a single mom. She lost her husband in a car accident and now someone took off with her wedding ring. She was too devastated to talk to News 9, but Wednesday her sister shared what happened with hopes that someone out there can help.

"This has been the hardest year. My nieces, my nephew they don't have their dad. My sister doesn't have her husband. Even now it's so surreal," said McHone's sister, Ashley Dye.

A devastating car accident on January 16 claimed the life of Jeremiah McHone, father of three and loving husband of 5 and a half years.

"He was driving home and his tire blew. He swerved to the right, over-corrected and flipped his work truck and he was killed instantly," Dye said.

Dye says her sister is staying strong for the kids, but then on Tuesday night her wedding ring was stolen.

"A bag was stolen, which was her gym bag. She hadn't worked out in a while, didn't put her jewelry back on, and somebody took it out of her car. There was clothes down the street and the ring's missing," Dye said.

Guthrie police are investigating, but Dye hopes everyone will keep their eyes, ears and hearts open for her sister and her stolen ring.

"I just want her to find her ring. She already doesn't have so much. She doesn't have him, you know?"

If you know anything about McHone's stolen wedding ring, call Guthrie police at (405) 282-3535.
