Federal authorities stopped and inspected Southwest Flight #1184 to Tulsa late Tuesday in Phoenix over what they called a potential security threat.

The flight was coming from Orange County, California and had a layover in Phoenix before leaving for Tulsa.

The airplane was taken to a restricted area of the tarmac at Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix and federal agents did a full sweep of the airplane.

The flight finally arrived in Tulsa at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Many passengers say they were never told the reason for the delay.  Passenger Brad Monclova told News On 6 he found out through a friend what had happened.

"I heard over the thing that we had a delay. My buddy actually knew one of the cops, because he works in law enforcement. And the cop actually told him about it.  It was supposed to be a bomb threat, and he came up and told me because we're flying together. So no one else knew that. So out of the whole flight just me and him knew," said Brad Monclova.

"A problem with security, they had a supervisor and a manager come and speak to the group of us. That's all they really said," said Ty Kelly.

Monclova says he's pleased with how the airline handled everything.

"You know Southwest did it the right way. I guess they had an emergency landing. That's what they told us. They did a whole sweep, and they even did secondary precautions and also sent us on a different plane," said Brad Monclova.

Jill Syfert was at Tulsa International to pick up her mom from the flight and didn't know about what had happened until her mom landed in Tulsa.

Ashley Dillon-Southwest Airlines spokesperson says after authorities got word of a "non-specific threat" Southwest Flight 1184 was taken to an isolated area at Sky Harbor in Phoenix after it flew in from John Wayne Airport in California.

Passengers and their bags were re-screened and authorities did not find anything.
