Enid police are investigating the death of a 7-month-old baby. Officers received a 911 call at about 5:12 p.m. Thursday. The caller stated their baby was not breathing.

As officers arrived at the house, located in the 400 block of N. 16th street, they saw the father performing CPR on his infant son in the front yard.

One officer helped the father with CPR, and also attempted to use his Automated External Defibrillator on the baby. Emergency crews with the Enid Fire Department later arrived at the home, and took over and continued CPR on the baby.

The baby, later identified as 7-month-old Russell Castner, was transported to St. Mary's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The parents of the baby, 27-year-old John Castner and 28-year-old Michelle Rancourt, told investigators their son was asleep in their bed. He had apparently rolled off the bed and fell onto a plastic garbage bag full of clothing.

The body of the baby has been transported to the Medical Examiner's Office for further investigation.

So far, police have not arrested anyone in this case.
