TULSA, Oklahoma -

There has been some changes to I-44 construction zones in Tulsa and most motorists are going to like those changes.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation has finished making a shift in the construction zone on I-44 at Peoria, including the opening of an on and off ramp.

The work is part of a $360 million widening project on I-44 between Riverside Drive to Yale Avenue. ODOT is widening I-44 from four to six lanes.

Kenna Mitchell with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation says westbound traffic on I-44 will move to new pavement near Peoria.

ODOT says several entrances will be open which will help take pressure off the Peoria interchange.

  • Westbound I-44 off-ramp to Peoria Avenue will shift to the west, closer to the Peoria Avenue junction.
  • Westbound I-44 off-ramp to Riverside Drive will open.
  • Westbound I-44 on-ramp from Lewis Ave. will open.

The overall I-44 Riverside Drive to Yale Avenue corridor is expected to be complete in 2013.
