The No. 5 ranked Oklahoma softball team completed the series sweep of Bedlam against Oklahoma State with a 7-1 win Wednesday, and they did so in record setting fashion.

OU's Lauren Chamberlain set a new school record for home runs in a season after belting two solo home runs in the Sooners win. The two long balls bring her season total to 22 home runs, including three in the last two games.

"I wasn't really worried about the record but I feel honored to be in the same ballpark as the players that have had the record like Coach (Lisa) Carey," said Chamberlain.

Chamberlain's first blast in the bottom of the first gave OU a 1-0 lead. In the third, Chamberlain made it 2-0 when she hit a bomb with one out over the fence in right centerfield.

In the fourth, the Sooners took a 5-0 lead on a three-run home run by Erica Sampson, who entered the game after left fielder Brittany Williams injured her leg chasing down a foul ball.

The Cowgirls got their only run of the game in the top of the fifth. With one out and one on, Ari Morrison laid down a bunt single advancing pinch runner Hannah Bowen to second. A base hit up the middle by Shelby Davis loaded the bases, and OU starter Keilani Ricketts hit Samantha Chrisman, pinch hitting for Kelsey Anchors, with a pitch, scoring Bowen from third.

The Sooners added two more runs in the bottom half of the frame on a walk, a double by Ricketts and a sacrifice fly by Jessica Shults.

Ricketts went five innings for the Sooners from inside the circle and is now 24-6 on the season after allowing four hits, one run and striking out seven. Michelle Gascoigne threw one inning of shutout pitching before Kirsten Allen entered the circle for the game's final scoreless inning.

OSU's Simone Freeman took the loss for the Cowgirls and falls to 7-8 on the year. Oklahoma State is now 23-19 overall and 6-9 in Big 12 play. OU moves to 39-7 and 14-4 in conference.

Erica Sampson had three RBIs to help lead Oklahoma to the win.

OSU will host No. 25 Baylor in a three game series starting Friday at 7 p.m. while OU return to action this Saturday when on the road against Central Arkansas at 1 p.m.
