The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says a man has confessed to the 1987 shooting death of Haskell County Commissioner Leo Boyd Reasnor.

The OSBI said Monday that Clifford Eagle walked into the Billings, Mont., police department last Wednesday and confessed to killing Reasnor on June 25, 1987. The OSBI initially spelled Reasnor's name as Reasoner.

Eagle told police that Reasnor confronted him and Vince Allen Johnson -- who Reasnor suspected of stealing property from him. Eagle said both he and Johnson opened fire because he thought Reasnor was reaching for a gun.

Johnson was executed in 2001 for another Oklahoma killing.

Eagle is currently being held in a jail in Billings. Authorities did not know whether he had an attorney.
