The Woodward Regional Hospital announced today it is giving $50,000 to the American Red Cross to help support the services being provided to families in need.

"In memory of those lives lost, in honor of those who are still recovering, in partnership with those working so hard to rebuild, on behalf of our Board of Trustees and extended leadership team, and in recognition of our dedicated medical staff, employees and volunteers, we would like to present this check for $50,000 to the Red Cross and its Woodward tornado disaster relief efforts," said Woodward Regional Hospital CEO Dave Wallace.

"We thank the Red Cross and all the local organizations for what they do and what they are doing.  We're dedicated to our community's rebuilding efforts, and the many ways we each, in our own way, can support the recovery and healing process."

Since the tornado, the Red Cross has opened a shelter for families displaced by the storm, served more than 5,000 snacks and delivered more than 1,750 meals.

"I just want to say that they stepped up and they've done a great job for our community," said Executive Director Mary Ann White.  "We truly appreciate having a partnership like we do with our Woodward Regional Hospital."

Volunteers from across Oklahoma, Texas and Colorado are meeting one-on-one with residents and families to ensure immediate disaster relief is available to all those affected.

Health and mental health volunteers are also on the ground to help and the Red Cross continues to distribute hygiene products, cleaning supplies, tarps, gloves and other essential items.
