Oklahoma State notched a midweek 6-4 win over Northeastern State University to snap its three-game losing streak thanks to big offensive performances by Robbie Rea and Trey Whaley.

Rea went 2-for-2 from the plate with two RBI and a home run while Whaley was 3-for-4 with two RBI and one homerun.

Oklahoma State (19-17) put one runner on in the bottom of the first then Mark Ginther belted a deep fly ball to right that was bobbled and allowed one run to score while Ginther rounded to third for an early 1-0 OSU lead.

The scoring continued in the second frame for the Cowboys when junior Trey Whaley smacked a leadoff solo home run to left centerfield putting the Pokes up 2-0.

NSU didn't back down though. Brandon Espinal drew a walk to start the third, then Michel Stone singled through the left side to put two runners aboard with no outs. Two batters later, Chris Davidson singled to right plating Espinal, cutting OSU's lead to 2-1 but the Riverhawks weren't done there. Chris Gallegos rounded out the top of the inning with a double to left center that scored two runs to take the lead at 3-2.

The game then scoreless until OSU added two runs in the bottom of the seventh when Rea smashed a long ball to left field to regain the lead at 4-3.

Rea also did some work from the mound coming in the top of the eighth in relief of Kenton Bevacqua who pitched one inning allowing one hit. Rea got the final out of that inning and the Cowboys increased its lead to 5-3 when with one on and no outs, Whaley managed a single that scored pinch runner Saulyer Saxon.

Later in the eighth the Cowboys added another run off a single by Hunter Bailey that brought Whaley home to make it 6-3.

NSU threatened a comeback in the top of the ninth as the Cowboys had trouble getting the final out. The Riverhawks cut the lead to 6-4 on a passed ball error. With a runner in scoring position the Cowboys brought in Blake Barnes who eventually struck out the last batter and sealed the 6-4 win.

NSU was paced by Chris Gallegos who had two RBI off one hit while Greg Jackson was 3-of-4 from the plate with one RBI.

The Cowboys now prepare for a three game series against conference rival Texas Tech. The Red Raiders visit Stillwater starting Friday at 6:30 p.m.
