The Sooners baseball squad opened its three game series against Missouri with a 6-5 win over the Tigers Friday night in Norman.

It took extra innings to decide the winner of this one after the game was delayed for more than three hours due to severe weather in the area.

The Sooners took a 4-3 lead into the ninth, but Missouri scored its fourth run of the game off a passed ball and an error on Garrett Carey.

But Carey responded and delivered a game winning single in the 10th inning that made up for his previous fielding error. Carey also drove in a run in the sixth off a double.

OU moves to 20-14 on the year and 5-8 in conference play as Jordan John picked up the win after pitching the final inning to improve to 5-4.

Missouri reliever Jeff Emens dropped to 2-1. He gave up four hits and two runs in the final 1 2/3 innings. Missouri is now 18-15 overall and 3-7 in Big 12 play.

Game two of the series is set for 11 a.m. on Saturday and the series finale is slated for 1 p.m. Sunday.

Tickets purchased in advance for Saturday will be valid for Saturday's contest at 11 a.m. Tickets purchased in advance for Sunday's game will be valid for either Saturday or Sunday's game.
