Petrino got fired? GOOD!

The people out there in Fayetteville and other places that didn't want him to lose his job are nuts. Putting FOOTBALL before MORALS?

Since when is doing the right thing something to be praised for?

Arkansas fired Bobby Petrino yesterday for lying to school officials. I'm sure you know the story by now.

And, firing him was the 100% RIGHT move. There were yahoos out there that said Petrino should keep his job. They claim that his affair with a young woman had nothing to do with football and should be kept separate from his on-the-field duties.

I say, PSH. He is the face of a football program. He's the person that parents trust their teenagers with. He's a man that is paid millions of dollars to represent his university well and do it in the VERY public eye. There is no way that you can just wipe away this issue without punishment.

He is not being fired for having an affair. That's deplorable, by the way, but not a fire-able offense in many places. He should not have done that but the school can't fire him for things that go on in his personal life. He can have 100 mistresses and Arkansas really couldn't do much about it.

What they can do is get rid of him after he lies about all the details revolving around his motorcycle accident and the cash gift he gave to this woman that he hired. Once you lie about a school employee, you're toast.

He SHOULD have been fired. The people out there in Fayetteville and other places that didn't want him to lose his job are nuts. Putting FOOTBALL before MORALS? Come on, people.

Fans and media alike are praising Arkansas AD Jeff Long for canning Petrino. Why are we patting him on the back? He did what was right. Should we all be doing what is right?
