The recount in District 71 is under way for a close election to the state House.

Only three votes separated Dan Arthrell and Katie Henke in the initial machine count of 2,800 ballots.

Late Wednesday morning, the Tulsa County Election Board began reviewing the ballots by hand to see if anything would change.

Katie Henke, a Republican, asked for the recount, which election officials believe will take about three hours.

If the total in the manual recount differs from the machine, Wednesday's tally will determine the winner.

So far, they haven't found any precincts with differences from the machine.

State House District 71 runs along the Arkansas River in central Tulsa.
