Turner Falls Park Reopens Following Weekend Floods

Turner Falls Park is open again after flash flooding forced the evacuation of hundreds of campers.

Officials said the park located in Murray County reopened on Tuesday, April 10. The campgrounds at the park were flooded by heavy rains over the weekend. Around 400 campers were evacuated on Sunday.

The American Red Cross provided a shelter in Sulphur for those evacuated. Approximately 70 campers stayed at the shelter, which was located at the Murray County Expo Center.

On Monday, the campers were bused back to Turner Falls Park to retrieve their vehicles and belongings. No injuries are reported.
