Oklahoma City Attorneys Enter Pleas In Bribery Case

Two Oklahoma City attorneys entered Alford pleas Thursday to charges stemming from a bribery case.

Attorney Josh Welch entered an Alford plea to a misdemeanor charge of obstructing an officer in the performance of his official duty. Attorney Sam Kerr, who was originally charged with offering a bribe, accepted a lesser charge of obstructing a public officer.

A judge gave each man a two-year deferred sentence, meaning they will not likely serve any time in jail.

The charges stem from a DUI case in Edmond. The District Attorney alleged that Kerr and Welch worked with attorney David Ogle to pay an Edmond police officer $500 to not show up for a Department of Public Safety hearing involving their client.

All three attorneys deny any wrongdoing.

"The allegations are five years old," Welch said Thursday. "I am glad to get this behind me"

Ogle was charged with bribing an officer. His case is set for May.
