LUBBOCK, Texas – OU baseball's fortunes reversed once again as a trip to Lubbock resulted in a 6-1 loss to the Red Raiders on Friday.

The Sooners had lost five straight before taking a pair of games from Air Force Academy on March 20, but things got ugly once again against Tech.

It was the first time the Red Raiders claimed a victory in a series opener against OU since 2002.

Tech started slow and steady with one run each in the first, fourth and fifth innings.

But in the meantime, the Sooners were unable to muster any offense throughout the first seven innings of play.

OU didn't get on the board until the eighth inning when Caleb Bushyhead was able to ground out into an RBI to bring home Garrett Carey for the lone run.

It wasn't enough to match the Raiders, and to add insult to injury they piled on three more runs in the bottom of the eighth.

Duke von Schamann picked up the win for Texas Tech, throwing the entire game and giving up six hits.

Jordan John was credited with the loss for the Sooners. He threw 7.1 innings and allowed five runs on 10 hits.

The teams will continue the series in Lubbock at 5 p.m. Saturday.
