There's a place in Oklahoma where students of different ages take on students from across the globe.  It's a TV studio in Moore.

"Moore vs. the World" is a new online show that pits Moore's best and brightest students against their counterparts in other parts of the world.  Oakridge Elementary students were the first when they took on Canadian students in the very first show.  Brink Junior High students competed with south African students in the latest episode.

"The main goal is for us to make our world a little bit smaller," said Allan Johnson.  Johnson is the show's host, but he also maintains the international connections through his consulting company.  "And elevate education in the process."

Brent Wheelbarger is the CEO of Trifecta Communications, where the show originates.  Both Wheelbarger and Johnson were insrumental in bringing the project to life.

"It's great PR for the Moore school system," said Wheelbarger.  "But it's also great international relations in a strange way."

Working with other educators across the globe carries its own logistical problems, especially when different time zones are involved.  That happened with the south Africa show.

"They needed to shoot in the middle of the day," Johnson said.  "Well, their middle of the day is 7 AM for us!"

The early crew call didn't seem to be a big deal for the students or their proud teacher.

"I immediately had an idea of who I wanted to take with me," said Brink teacher Mary Brese.  Brese has all four of the Brink teammates in her classes.  "They're a brainy bunch of kids."

Brink eighth-grader Garrett Elmore saw the experience as one to remember.

"It's like a once in a lifetime chance," said Elmore.  "It doesn't happen to everybody and it's really cool."

The second episode of "Moore vs. the World" is still in post-production, but should be ready for online viewing next week on www.mooremonthly.com.
