OKLAHOMA CITY -

After a day-long manhunt, U.S. Marshals tracked a fugitive to southwest Oklahoma City and found him hiding between two houses.

Deputy Marshals began searching for Ryan Freeburg on Monday. Freeburg has a long criminal history and was wanted for possession of a firearm after a conviction charge.

Marshals spent several hours tracking Freeburg across the city and finally narrowed his location to the area near S.W. 24th Street and Western. Early Tuesday morning, they blocked off several streets while they conducted their search. They wanted to keep people away because they were concerned Freeburg may be armed.

A deputy finally spotted Freeburg, but the suspect ran off. Marshals called in the Oklahoma City Canine Unit to help find him.

Around 5 a.m., a police dog located Freeburg hiding in a trash can between two houses near S.W. 24th Street and McKinley. He was not armed and marshals took him into custody without incident.

Freeburg is being held in the Oklahoma County jail.
