Norman Police Release Name Of Teen Shooting Victim

Police have identified an 18 year old who was shot and killed just after midnight Sunday in a Norman neighborhood.

Daniel Ray Merrell died in the 1900 block of Barkley Street. Neighbors told News 9 there were a lot of people at the house for a party. Just after midnight, neighbors heard a gunshot then screaming.

"It was just chaotic. It was chaotic. It was really chaotic," said neighbor Michael Smith. "This lady with a white shirt on comes out and she's like, you know, ‘He's bleeding and he's not breathing.'"

Norman police have not said what led up to the shooting. They also have not made any arrests or named any suspects in the case.
