Many people will spend Saturday celebrating the Irish holiday at establishments in Cleveland County. Sheriff Joe Lester encourages citizens to be responsible at parties and gatherings.
Cleveland County deputies will patrol roads throughout the county looking for motorists who might be driving intoxicated or drunk. Deputies won't hesitate arresting people caught driving under the influence.
"Nobody should ever get behind the wheel if they are under the influence of alcohol," Lester said. "The consequences are dangerous and sometimes, deadly. If you are caught driving under the influence, you will be arrested and jailed whether you're wearing green or not. No exceptions."
Lester asks anyone whose celebration plans include alcohol to have a designated driver take them home.
