Claremore Man Arrested On Assault, Kidnapping Complaints

A 52-year-old Claremore man is behind bars after he allegedly stabbed and then attempted to kidnap a convenience store clerk late Tuesday night.

A 52-year-old Claremore man is behind bars after he allegedly stabbed and then attempted to kidnap a convenience store clerk late Tuesday night.

Claremore Police say John Kapchinsky entered the Buy N Bye store on Will Rogers Boulevard just before midnight and attempted to buy beer.

Police say when a credit card machine refused his transaction, Kapchinsky became angry, produced a knife and during a struggle stabbed the clerk.

According to jail records, Kapchinsky took the beer and some cigarettes and tried to force the clerk into his car. She managed to escape and go for help.

Police officers arrived and a short time later located Kapchinsky at a home on Patti Page Boulevard.

He was arrested on complaints of first degree robbery, assault and battery with a deadly weapon and kidnapping and booked into the Rogers County jail.

The clerk was treated at a Claremore hospital and released.
