The OSU Cowboys improved it season record to 10-7 Tuesday night in Stillwater thanks to a 6-2 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
OSU's Zach Fish increased his hitting streak to 14 games tonight for the longest active streak in the Big 12 this season.
Oklahoma State scored five runs over the second and third innings while Chase Stevens notched his third winning performance from the mound in the win.
Oklahoma State put the first runs on the board in the bottom of the second. With one out and the bases loaded, Hunter Bailey took the plate and was walked giving OSU a 1-0 lead with the bases still loaded. Two batters later Jared Womack knocked an RBI single making it 2-0 in favor of the Cowboys.
In the third, with three on and two out, Wes Jones ripped a ball that bounced off the left field wall for a double that scored three runs giving OSU the 5-0 lead.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff got on the board in the fourth when Soloman Williams doubled to center field to plate Cornelius Williams from third and cut OSU's lead to 5-1.
The Cowboys added another run in the fifth when Arkansas' Leo Fuentes allowed his third walk of the inning making it 6-1 in favor of OSU.
The Lions scored one run in the seventh, but it wasn't enough against the Cowboys whose pitching and defense came up big down the stretch to notch its fourth-straight win.
Stevens went six innings for the Cowboys allowing three hits while striking out seven. He moves to 3-0 for OSU with a 1.32 ERA in the victory.
OSU recorded nine hits on the night and were paced by Zach Fish and Trey Whaley who each tallied two hits apiece. Jones led the way for Oklahoma State with three RBI while the Lions managed only four hits on the evening.
Jake Abbott came in relief for Stevens recording three innings of play with five strikeouts and no earned runs.
The two teams will face each other again on Wednesday at 4 p.m. inside Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
