Santa Fe's Walker Named Gatorade Player of the Year

Edmond Santa Fe guard Courtney Walker has been honored as Oklahoma's Gatorade Player of the year.

Edmond Santa Fe standout Courtney Walker received a top national honor Thursday being named Oklahoma's 2011-12 Gatorade Player of the Year.

The Edmond guard averaged 17.7 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists through 25 games this season for the Wolves.

Walker is also the nation's No. 33 recruit in the Class of 2012 according to ESPNHS.

The 5'8 senior has helped Edmond Santa Fe to the 2011 Class 6A State Championship and this year has aided the Wolves an undefeated 25-0 record this season and a berth in the Class 6A regional semifinals that begin Thursday in Tulsa.

In addition to her success on the court, Walker has maintained a 3.91 GPA in the classroom.

Edmond Santa Fe will face Union at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 8 at ORU's Mabee Center in Tulsa.
