Ponca City High School Student Arrested For Bringing Gun To School

A 15-year-old Ponca City high school student is arrested after bringing a loaded hand gun to school on Tuesday.

School officials said the male student was arrested inside the Ponca City High School lunch room after a school resource officer acted on a tip received through the Po-Hi Crime Stoppers program. The teen was taken into custody without incident.

An investigation into the incident determined no students or faculty were ever threatened and that the student had not created any type of "hit" list.

The student was transported to the Ponca City Police Department. He's currently being held in a state detention facility.

Officers said Tuesday's incident was an isolated one and no other arrests are expected.
