Oklahoma City police arrested a woman suspected of robbing several checking cashing stores after an officer pulled over her estranged husband.
Police were investigating robberies at check cashing stores in Oklahoma City, Del City and Moore. Witnesses had described the suspect as a white woman, 5 feet 6 inches tall and approximately 200 pounds. During the robberies, she wore camouflage clothing and drove a blue Ford 500 pickup truck with chrome trim, tinted windows, factory wheels and a paper tag.
On February 19, an Oklahoma City police officer spotted a truck matching that description and pulled over the driver near N.W. 13th Street and May. A man was behind the wheel. The officer asked him if anyone else drove his truck. The man said his estranged wife, Dana Kearby, often drove the vehicle.
The officer asked the man to describe Kearby, and his description matched that of the suspect in the robberies. The officer then asked the man for permission to search his truck, and he agreed.
During the search, police found clothing seen on the suspect in surveillance photos and videos. They also found a gun, and a surveillance videotape believed to have been taken from one of the check cashing stores.
After discovering the evidence, police drove to Kearby's house and arrested her. She was arrested on six counts of armed robbery with a dangerous weapon.
